BCHLA Constitution

  1. The name of the Society shall be "B.C. HOME LEARNERS' ASSOCIATION".

  2. The purposes of this Society are:

    1. To promote and encourage home education as an alternative to and compatible with the public, separate, and private school systems.

    2. To provide and support encouragement, legal and educational assistance, advice, and counsel to members and others involved or interested in home education.

    3. To solicit or raise money; to receive, acquire, and hold gifts, donations, and bequests to be used solely in the furtherance of these objects; to undertake and execute any trusts which may be conducive to these objects.

    4. To establish and maintain liaison with other educational institutions and government, to coordinate the use by home educators of public and private school resources, to facilitate the transition of individuals educated through home educated programmes into higher education facilities, and to generally improve the facilities available to home educators.

    5. To engage in and to promote research and study into the benefits and improvement of home education, and to establish or to evaluate improved curricula for home education use.

    6. To do all such things as may be necessary or conducive to the entailment of the aforesaid objects.

  3. Upon the dissolution of the Society, its property and assets remaining shall be donated to a non-profit Canadian organization for use in benefitting home education or for the support of the children of home educators. This provision of the Constitution is unalterable.
